More power to the MC12s on the new Silverstone track

It's the second round of the FIA GT1 World Championship, which will cross the English Channel for the prestigious Tourist Trophy in Silverstone, Great Britain, this weekend.

The GT1 World Championship competitors will be the first to race on the renovated Silverstone circuit - even before the F1 or the MotoGP. The circuit has been thoroughly revamped with respect to the old historic track.

A few changes on the Maserati MC12s will be noticed in England: the FIA Commission has once again intervened to balance out the performance of the competing cars and has allowed the MC12s to increase the diameter of the flanges, which translates into a great advantage in terms of power. However, the Commission also determined a 10-kilo increase in ballast (to be added to the usual 25 kg) for all four Maseratis.
This ballast is to be added to the ballast assigned during the result in the previous race (success ballast). Therefore Bartels/Bertolini will have 45 kg on board.

After the fourth place obtained by Bartels/Bertolini and the sixth of Bernoldi/Ramos at Abu Dhabi, Vitaphone Racing's Maseratis are determined to excel. Thanks to their third place in the Qualifying Race - which lasts an hour and assigns championship points - the reigning champs are also in third place in the general rankings.

After their championship debut in Yas Marina, there are great performance expectations from Triple H Team Hegersport's two MC12s: Bobbi/Longin's seventh place and Margaritis/Heger's ninth in the Emirates elicit high hopes for success in Great Britain.
