Maserati stars at Milan s Autoclassica
Maserati’s first appearance at a classic car show far exceeded expectations.
The first signs of notable public interest came on the Friday when the Maserati stand was visited by crowds of enthusiasts. Even so, nobody expected the throng that flocked to the stand on Saturday and Sunday with record numbers attending. “It was like being at the Turin Motorshow in the sixties”, commented Ermanno Cozza, an expert from the Maserati Classiche department and veteran of countless such shows.
The public was drawn equally to the five Maserati models on display: three were classic cars on loan from the Panini Museum, and two were from the current range. This line up was designed to reinforce the continuity in the tradition of excellence that has now lasted almost a century. In Maserati’s customary set up for international events, pride of place was taken by a Maserati Type 61 Birdcage, a 6C 34 and a Ghibli. These vehicles were flanked by a GranTurismo S Automatic and a GranCabrio Sport in Rosso Trionfale.
Visitors were also drawn to the Maserati Store, present at the stand, where they were able to appreciate Maserati branded products. They also displayed an interest in the Maserati Classiche department as it made its first appearance on the international motoring stage. Fabio Collina, head of Maserati’s new department dedicated to showcasing the company’s vast patrimony, was able to see for himself just how much the public, and especially owners of classic Maseratis, appreciated the chance to learn about the many services that are dedicated to them.
