Beneath the racy exterior, a spirit of refinement

When it comes to the design and construction of convertibles with uncompromising performance and inimitable beauty, the Maserati tradition reaches new heights with the GranTurismo MC Convertible. It is a unique car that continues the elegant tradition of luxurious style of Maserati's first genuine four-seater cabriolet, the GranTurismo Convertible, with the technological expertise and experience gained on the racetrack by Maserati Corse.

Aerodynamic research has created a unique silhouette, styled by the wind

The Maserati engineers have introduced a series of advancements on the GranTurismo MC Convertible aimed at enhancing the car’s aerodynamic efficiency without compromising its innate beauty and elegance. Features developed for the GranTurismo MC have been adapted to the needs of a sleek convertible: features masterfully combine to create a unique silhouette, styled by the wind.

Performance reflected in the black details of the Shadow Line version

The front is dominated by the traditional Maserati oval grille featuring black vertical fillets and a Trident with red details in the center. Complementing the Shadow Line version’s many black exterior details, the front headlights come in a menacing matte black, while the LED taillights sport an exclusive burnished finish.

At the rear, the bumper has been redesigned with centrally located exhausts and a profile designed to promote efficient flow out from under the body.

The high tailpipes leave room for a very pronounced extractor profile

At the rear, the exhaust tips of the Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible are centrally positioned and higher up, to leave space below the bottom of the bumpers, which improves the extraction of airflow from underneath the car. The dynamic look created by the aggressive lines of the MC bodywork is further emphasized by the 20-inch MC Design wheels, which are lighter and sport a design referencing the traditional Maserati Trident, skilfully incorporated into their double spokes.

The original pearl-white paint recalls the triumphs of the mythical Birdcage

The functional and aggressive look of the Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible can be enhanced by the Bianco Birdcage three-layer paint finish: with its unusual blue tints, this color changes with light, angle and viewing distance. Its striking effect is a nod to the white and blue-striped trim that was the hallmark of the Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage, a race car that competed successfully in the top U.S. championships in the early 1960s.

The ideal place to find out what an open-top GT car really means

The promise of performance: hands on the sport steering wheel, fingers ready to flick the gear shift paddles, right foot ready to unleash the acceleration provided by the powerful V8 engine. Drivers can have all this, while ensconced in a luxurious cabin with its superb ergonomic design. With the sun and sky above, travelling in the Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible is truly a unique experience.

The racing-style seats with integrated headrest complement the purposeful exterior

The design of the stylish sports seats echoes the elegant lines of the exterior: even with the roof up, the car’s stylistic innovations cannot fail to catch the eye. The headrests integrated into the seat backs, embossed with the Maserati logo, sit atop larger, more comfortable seats that also provide maximum ergonomic support during sports driving and luxurious comfort on long drives.

A steering wheel covered with unique materials for maximum control

The three-spoke sports steering wheel of the Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible incorporates the multifunction control buttons for the onboard devices and has a more heavily profiled grip than the steering wheels on other models. Available in leather and Alcantara®, leather-only, or leather and carbon fiber, it reflects the Maserati engineers’ focus on optimizing the use of space: the top and bottom of the rim are flattened for an even more compact look and ease of use during spirited driving.

Gearshift paddles and pedals that are an extension of the driver’s will

Positioned behind the steering wheel are longer Trofeo Design gearshift paddles: firmly connected to the steering column, they are available in carbon fiber on request and are designed to ensure maximum control over gear changes even when executing tight turns on winding roads. The accelerator and brake pedal come in perforated aluminium as standard, to ensure optimum grip and improved response in all conditions.

Alcantara® and leather for a sporting environment

Those in search of an even more sport-themed interior will choose the Alcantara® package, inspired by the upholstery traditionally used in racing cars. Lighter than leather, this high-tech material can be used to clad a large proportion of the interior, from the brow above the instrument panel to the central armrest and the door panel/handle armrest, through the center of the dashboard and the central tunnel.

High-tech solutions for open-top driving

The Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible turns heads instantly, a result of its stunning design that combines purposeful aerodynamics developed on the track with unrivalled elegance designed for the road. Yet the technological solutions that make Maserati’s sportiest convertible of all a truly unique car actually lie below its handsome exterior. The powerful Maserati V8 engine is controlled by an automatic six-speed transmission, so responsive that it detects and adjusts based on driving style, while the suspension can be tuned to specific road conditions based on the driver’s preference.

V8 engine: Docile or aggressive at the touch of the accelerator

The heart of the Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible is the legendary 4.7-liter V8 engine. In keeping with the Maserati tradition, this engine features a series of innovations that make it incredibly powerful and flexible, capable of delivering smooth or exhilarating performance, not to mention excitement in spades, whenever the driver demands.

MC Auto Shift functions make the car even more fun to drive

The six-speed automatic gearbox of the Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible features auto-adaptive software that automatically responds to driving style and road conditions, adapting the gear-shifting mode accordingly. It uses MC Auto Shift technology, which operates in a variety of ways depending on performance parameters.

The suspension with special setup and stiffer dampers

The wishbone suspension system on the Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible features a specific setup with more rigid dampers and springs, while the Sport Skyhook system with continuously variable dampers is available as an option. When the Sport button is pressed, the car becomes more precise and reactive, but continues to absorb bumps in the road as it adapts to any conditions. The Maserati Stability Program (MSP) ensures more freedom of action.

Brembo dual-cast brakes ensure immediate response

The braking system of the Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible makes the most of Brembo dual-cast technology with discs crafted from cast iron and aluminium. This brings the weight down by 15% to 20%, while offering enhanced performance and less overall wear. The system comprises six-piston monobloc calipers up front and four-piston calipers in the rear, paired with drilled, slotted discs. This design provides more predictable braking performance and reduces braking distance, especially on wet surfaces.

Every GranTurismo MC Convertible is a clear expression of its driver’s style

Fine materials such as the finest Italian leather by Poltrona Frau®, Alcantara® and carbon fiber come together in the Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible to offer endless combinations. Inside, the customization options extend to the smallest details and include the leather, stitching, mats and moldings, allowing each client to create an exclusive, made-to-measure car.

Bodywork, soft-top and brake calipers: mechanics become design in motion

On such a sporty convertible, it is appropriate that details large and small play a role as elements of design. The Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible is available in a wide range of color combinations, while the soft top, brake calipers and 20-inch wheels can also be personalized.

Alcantara® creates a luxurious interior with soft, high-tech sensations

The Alcantara® package is a fine match for the dynamic look of the Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible. It allows various areas of the interior, including the brow of the instruments, central armrest, door panel/handle armrest, center of dashboard and central tunnel, to be finished in a material that is lighter than leather and both luxurious and sporty at the same time.

The details on the dashboard, door panels and rear side panels are finished in Dark Chrome as standard, which combines anthracite grey with a warm gleam, or the new EcoChrome, a color reminiscent of the glow of molten metal. While the Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible has a sporting personality, optionally available are choice woods or lacquered shades for those in search of more traditional finishes on the interior trim.

The MC Sport Line customization packages are designed to enhance the sporty look and feel of the Maserati GranTurismo MC Convertible through ample use of carbon fiber detailing, both inside and on the exterior of the car.

*Driving over rough or damaged road surfaces, as well as debris, curbs and other obstacles, can cause serious damage to wheels, tires and suspension parts. This is more like to occur with low-profile tires, which provide less cushioning between the wheel and the road. Be careful to avoid road hazards and reduce your speed, especially if your vehicle is equipped with low-profile tires.
