The GranTurismo Convertible MC Centennial Edition: capturing the essence of the Maserati century

When it comes to designing convertibles, Maserati has always led the way. The speed, reliability and elegance of its very first open-top racing cars marked Maserati out as a motoring powerhouse from the very beginning. Cutting-edge for their time, the legacy of these early cabriolets is plain to see in the convertible masterpieces crafted by Maserati throughout its glorious hundred years in business. Today’s Maserati makes travel a powerful and unique experience, with the new MC Centennial Edition representing the ultimate in motoring ‘al fresco’.

Unrivalled power, performance and elegance: the GranTurismo Convertible MC Centennial Edition is a luxury true Maserati lovers cannot afford to miss.

A bold redesign of the ground-breaking Convertible

It is no coincidence that Maserati opted to release an exclusive new edition of the Convertible to mark its first centenary. This model evokes the essence of the House of the Trident with a silhouette that is as powerful as it is elegant. The Convertible MC Centennial Edition also pays tribute to its illustrious forebear: the brand’s first soft-top to comfortably accommodate four people.

A powerful cabriolet with the charisma of a coupé

Sleek, sinuous, sublime; this Maserati is designed to impress, from its distinctive radiator grill to its 96 LED rear light assemblies. The eye is immediately drawn to the beautiful soft-top, while features such as the ultra-lightweight carbon fibre engine cover ensure that the look of an elegant coupé is achieved without adding weight to the vehicle as a whole. With the top down, the dynamism of the side view is accentuated by the short overhangs and elongated engine hood: a signature detail that also serves to limit aerodynamic turbulence.

A bolt from the blue

For this centennial model the Convertible is a vision in the trademark Maserati blue. The shade, known as Blu Inchiostro, pays tribute to the brand’s historic image while being unique to this special anniversary model. Three coats of specially designed paint were applied to the bodywork, making a bold and striking visual statement, where reddish undertones convey the passion and intensity of the brand.

An unparalleled commitment to detail

The best sports cars are also the lightest, and the Convertible MC Centennial Edition is no exception. Fitted with light-weight forged 20” Matt Smoke Trofeo Design wheels – through which it is possible to glimpse the car’s anodised Matt Blue brake callipers – this cabriolet speeds over tarmac like a shark through water. Uniquely, the Trident-shaped spokes of this model are highlighted in red, white or blue through an innovative laser process. To finish, the hubcaps carry the ultimate stamp of quality: the Maserati Centennial logo.

Unrivalled comfort: exquisite design

Italian Premium leather seats in Bianco Pregiato, exquisite Blu Santorini inserts and contrasting stitching in Blu Sofisticato, make the interior of the Convertible MC Centennial Edition truly sublime. This is the perfect colour combination for a cabriolet: a luxurious yet sporty interior that comes into its own when it is opened up to the sun and sky.

The signature Maserati style

Cushioned between luxurious leather, the driver and passengers are surrounded by hallmark Maserati design motifs. Naturally, the legendary Trident logo features on the steering wheel and headrests, offset against the pure white of the upholstery. For a finishing touch of exclusivity, the carbon-fiber doorsills display the name of the car and the unmistakable Maserati Centennial logo.

World-class luxury for four

Up to four people can travel in style and comfort in this Convertible, which offers spacious passenger seating. Winter or summer, passengers and driver benefit from intelligent climate control technology, which automatically adjusts its temperature settings to its surroundings. Immersive surround sound is also assured; carefully positioned speakers are controlled from the multimedia center on the dashboard.

A century of innovation

Maserati has championed technological expertise and innovation since 1914. The centennial edition represents the culmination of this heritage, where one hundred years of cutting edge design reaches its zenith. Despite its long wheelbase, the streamlined form offers outstanding aerodynamic performance, while a balanced weight distribution achieves trustworthy, predictable handling.

Ultimate speed, ultimate control

Precision engineering reigns supreme under the bonnet, where a 90 degree V8 engine of 4,691 cm3 generates 454 HP at 7,000 rpm, and a maximum torque of 520 Nm at 4,750 rpm. Quick, smooth gear shifts are guaranteed by the six-speed ZF automatic gearbox with hydraulic torque converter, while four operating modes give the driver complete control.

A smooth drive in any conditions

This model features aluminium gas dampers coupled with the Skyhook electronic system, allowing the vehicle to monitor and respond to the driver’s style and the road conditions. In Sport mode, the suspension has a more rigid setting to reduce roll angles, ensuring safety and comfort whatever the weather.

Traditional craftsmanship meets modern engineering

Italian craftsmanship is at the heart of the Maserati success story; it is the principle upon which the House was founded. The memorable design for this centennial edition has been carefully conceived to celebrate one hundred years of the House of the Trident. More than a car, the Convertible MC Centennial Edition is a work of art, paying homage to a century of cutting edge design.

Hand-stitched at leisure, enjoyed at speed

The interior of the Convertible MC Centennial Edition is the perfect tribute to the quality and finesse of Maserati design. The expertise of skilled artisans is strongly articulated throughout, from the painstaking double stitching of the cabriolet’s upholstery to its carpets with matching accent trims. A comfortable, streamlined arrangement of panels in the seating moulds to the contours of the body and ensures a relaxing drive for all.

Customised colours for the last word in style

The eye-catching combination of blue and white designed for this Convertible Centennial Edition is one of four available color schemes. Discerning Maserati drivers can select one of the edition’s special three-coat colours – Blu Inchiostro, Rosso Magma, Grigio Pietra (with mica providing an original metallic effect) or Bianco Birdcage – to be matched with a particular interior finish. These interiors can also be set against Nero Carbonio, Bianco Eldorado or Grigio Granito paintwork.
